Life lessons from Walter Mitty

image

I recently got to know a man, a man who changed the way I see things, a man named Walter Mitty…

It’s been rough, guys… it really was… and apart from that, it has been a strange time since my last post, which was around Christmas. I apologize, but I’m not a schedule guy… I’m not a lot of things…

I guess I can say a lot of things happened or that a lot of things changed and it may have… It’s just that I really don’t want to look back right now. Maybe tomorrow…

Well, I don’t want to think about past, so I’m going to look to the future and future is the only thing I keep on hanging to right now.

Today, I went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty which is a very inspiring and didactic film in a way you wouldn’t expect. I don’t want to spoil anything,  so I’ll just say that it became one of my favourites of this year. Why? Well, because I needed a break and some guidance and this film made me reconsider some things.

It was a fresh breath, one shiny star to look towards and more than that, a film about a man who tries to cope with his own life and comes to realising some things that he haven’t had the courage to try or even to think off. It’s a nice story, but it’s the way it is told that makes it great.

Anyway, it was a nice experience and I recommend it to you! Take a free afternoon and try it!

Christmas review

Christmas is officially gone so I decided to draw a line and look upon the ups and downs…

Well, that was not such a wise decision to begin with… I realised this Christmas had nothing special… Nope, no Christmas spirit/magic over here, nothing like that.

If I didn’t know today was 25th of December, I would say this was just a nice free day that I did nothing productive in.

Anyway, Christmas is not how it used to be when I was younger, that’s a for sure… Even Santa broke the rules and left the presents a bit to early, not that there were many presents – some chocolate, pajamas and an aftershave… Really? I guess they call it “economic crisis”. Well, f*ck the presents, right? Christmas is not about presents…

Well, I agree with the former statement, but if there’s not much presents around the Christmas tree, then you must have some of that Christmas spirit to fill up the gap, right? WRONG!!!

Therefore, I tried to fill up that gap with food and my biggest passion – films. And talking about films, I chose to go with something near to my heart – Pearl Harbor – for the simple reason that it was on TV, and so I abandoned It’s a wonderful life which still sits on my desk as I write, but I intent to watch it really soon…

So, no more magic, no more presents – pretty much nothing that makes Christmas so special. Only food, tv and nothing to do, but I get those a lot more often than I get Christmas…

PS: I know that many people don’t think much of Pearl Harbor, but it still stands among my favourites without any doubt. Oh, and I also started the second season of Sherlock so I can get up to speed towards the near coming 3rd season…

Christmas tree

Wow, around still? Here’s to my Christmas tree then… I hope it’s not that bad…

Where’s the magic?

Maybe tomorrow it’ll be better…

I don’t know guys… I really don’t… What’s wrong? What’s missing? What’s different?

I’m not feeling the magic anymore… I’m not feeling it – Christmas spirit… I really don’t and now that I think of, it’s been like this for a couple of years…

I hope your Christmas is better than mine and if it’s not, stay strong!

Merry Christmas everyone! And thank you for simply being here. It really matters a lot to me, ’cause I know you all have better and more important things to do.

PS: I’m planning on watching It’s a wonderful life tomorrow ’cause I haven’t seen it by now and everyone tells me it’s a really good Christmas movie. Maybe that will show me some of the lost magic…

The longest night

23035_miscellaneous_dark_night

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer…

You probably know about the winter solstice which means that there will be the shortest day in the year, respectively the longest night in the year. I don’t know about you, but I find this somehow poetic if I may say so…

It’s a long night ahead – the longest of them all actually – and I think of how many good and bad things will happen tonight. How many lovers will fall asleep together, how many dying people will give their last breath, how many poets will write beautiful lines, how many lights will shine in the sky… How many?

There’s something special the night, you know? Something mystic, hegemony of the darkness and unknown, pure freedom of those brave enough… You just have to open you eyes and you could see it… You must not be afraid… It’s all too beautiful to hurt anyone…

Anyway, I hope my fascination for the night doesn’t scare you, because that was definetly not my intent…

PS: Yeah, I know it’s 22nd December, but make an effort of imagination, would you? Go back a couple of hours to 21st – that’s all I ask for..

The Hobbit experience

The-Desolation-of-Smaug-Quad-PosterThe king under the mountain and his desolation…

I went out to see The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug a couple of evenings ago and I suggest you do the same. Just grab a handful of your best friends as I did (yeah, I have friends…) or just go stag – your choice.

Although I’ve endured the heat of a full cinema hall, the experience totally worth it. Sitting on the last row, cozy deepening myself in the seat, having a nice beverage and something to crunch – that’s the dream (at least on a friday evening).

Anyway, the film is really worth seeing and I don’t believe you if you say you haven’t seen The Lord of the Rings. I simply don’t… Go, fix that!

PS: This is the one where Smaug (the dragon) appears, but I don’t want to spoil more than that…

Midnight fog

tumblr_mxvcz6aZiD1qksxoro1_500

It looks like a night I remember from a 90’s cult movie… it’s cold and dark, strange, but so beautiful…

Don’t know about you, but it’s freezing around those places and it’s been like this for a couple of days now. You can say the winter had finally come…

It’s so foggy and strange… you feel like you’re lost in the night and you may never found your way back home, but don’t worry! This no time to worry. The lights will be guiding you and once you’re tucked in your warm and cozy bed, they’ll be watching still – guardian angels…

It’s really unusual though, this constant night fog that has been covering the city for days now, a thick and cold fog that I seem to enjoy so much. It is just beautiful…

Anyway, it’s starting to look really nice around here (if cold and foggy can be considered nice) and I hope it does the same wherever you live. After all, Christmas is just a couple of days away, so take a deep breath and look up to the horizon…

PS: I wish I’d have a better camera so I could snap a really good picture… This fog is such a visual symphony to those eyes…

I’m an outsider

I’m an outsider… I always was… It just took me over 18 years to understand that…

Hi there! And welcome to my humble blog, a place where I intend to express myself and communicate with this whole world-wide-web. Pretty simple, right?

So, my name is Sorry (no pun intended) and I’m an 18 years old boy on my last endeavors in high school and I hope I can make it right someday, but I don’t know what that means yet – I’m still looking – you know?

I’m also thinking really serious of going to Law School after this year, but I want to make an attempt to some other things that I can simply not explain. Not yet. I guess you can say Law is just a back-up plan for me, although I respect those with this profession. It’s just not me, you know?

I’m not made of such a material and I don’t know what that material is yet, but I’m trying my best to find out and I believe that’s what we’re always supposed to do, you know?

Once again, welcome and I hope I’ll see you around some other time as well, OK? After all, I believe this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

PS: I’m quite a big film-lover by the way. You like films too, right?
